The National Statement is the culmination of two days of consultation with 38 representatives from 17 organizations comprising of members of Singapore’s civil societies and trade unions. The consultation was held at the Peninsula Excelsior Hotel from 16-17 of April 2009 under the auspices of the Task Froce on ASEAN Migrant Workers.

TF AMW submission to the ACMW on the Drafting of the ASEAN Instrument on the protection and promotion of the rights of migrant workers. The meeting was held on 1st April 2009 in Bangkok, Thailand. The TF-AMW plans to finalize the Civil Society Framework Instrument by May 1, 2009, and will be requesting the opportunity to present this Framework Instrument at the meeting of the ASEAN SLOM in Vientiane.

TF-AMW submission to the ACMW Workshop on Scope and Coverage and Rights of Migrant Workers. The Workshop was held from 26 to 27 March 2009, Manila, Philippines. The TF AMW believes that the scope and coverage of the forthcoming Instrument should be made comprehensive and include all migrant workers and members of their families residing with them.

The representatives of Global Union Federation (GUF) affiliates and trade unions, gathered in Bogor, Indonesia on 9-11 February 2009, to convene a regional workshop on Trade Unions and the ASEAN Regional Economic Integration. TF AMW make presentation on the Civil Society draft "Framework Instrument." Some of the GUF trade unions are already network members of the TF AMW.
