The 4th ASEAN Forum on Migrant Labour provided a platform for information sharing and exchange of views on two enduring challenges identified in the ASEAN Declaration of the Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Migrant Workers, i.e. promoting understanding, rights and dignity of migrant workers in the receiving countries, and increasing return and reintegration support, as well as development of sustainable alternatives for migrant workers in the sending countries.

The 4th ACMW meeting (11-12 April 2011) is held as part of efforts to implement the ASEAN declaration on the protection and promotion of migrant workers` rights. The ACMW is negotiating an ASEAN Framework Instrument to protect and promote the rights of migrant workers.

The TFAMW co-organized a Workshop (9-10 April 2011) on the Drafting of the ASEAN Framework Instrument on the protection and promotion of the rights of migrant workers. The Workshop participate by 50 mostly local participants was a parallel event to the ACMW Meeting (11-12 April 2011). The results of the workshop was delivered to both the Indonesian ACMW Rep (Chair) and Ministry of Foreign Affairs (ASEAN Directorate).

The 10 CSO representatives including the the TFAMW Convenor meet and submit the recommendations to the CPR chair. The TFAMW deliver its recommendation on the implementation of the ASEAN Declaration on the protection and promotion of the rights of the migrant workers. TFAMW also request the CPR to support the participation of CSO groups in the ASEAN Forum on Migrant Labour.

TFAMW organized the Thai National Consultation. 15 February 2011 as follow-up activity 14 Thai and Burmese Migrant Workers Groups delivered the open letter to the Thai Ministry of labour calling for better protection of the rights of migrant workers. They also called for the full implementation of the ASEAN Declaration on the protection and promotion of the rights of migrant workers.
